Remembering David

I remember the day you were born. God opened a door to me. Until then I did not truly understand what loving someone was truly about. ~ Patty Vroon-Frank ~ David's mom.
The night I found out Dave died I slept fitfully. One of the times I woke up I had a clear image of the old guy in Shawshank Redemption scratching his name in the rafter, saying he was here. I keep coming back to the idea that when we go, we will all want to scream to the heavens that we were here, that we mattered. Dave mattered to me. He was my friend. I learned things from being with him, about myself, and my life, and the way I'd like to live it. I want to keep him with me in some way so I did my own version of scratching his name in the rafters here at Counterpoint ~ DAVE WAS HERE! ~ Cam ~ David's friend & brother
David, thank you for sharing your amazing heart with a staggering number of people and giving your heart fully to one woman who loves you the same way you loved here. Thank you for Karlyn and the gift she is to our families. ~ John Vroon ~ David's Uncle
At a young age, David instinctively knew the importance of giving himself away. I heard among the Team Guys, David was know for being first to volunteer for duty. He had great courage, but I imagine his motivation was not to be brave, but just to give. People like David, who are eager to give of themselves at such a level of intensity are rare diamonds on this planet. ~ Bryan Vroon ~ David's 2nd cousin
To say I miss Dave and going on has been difficult, is a gross misunderstanding. He was the best of us and continues to be the Standard which we all measure ourselves, not because he was proficient in all the skill sets but because he was a complete person. He was three dimensional in that he was able to be a good operator, teammate and family man which is the epitome to which we all strive. In losing Dave, you have gained more sons than you can fathom.
